Who is a Living Prophet?
Part One Paramahansa Yogananda's Spiritual Legacyfor the 3rd Millennium ..
by  PYislove  2013
Also See;

First of all - a living prophet is usually NOT someone we see in this  world of relativity who is occupying a physical form like yourself. Those persons whom you imagine to be "living " are like yourself, spiritually dead.
Those who are "true Living Prophets" are not concerned about having physical bodies.
When the body's work is done they drop it, and after that we still see them working in and through the lives of serious devotees and truth seekers.
The Living Prophet is not necessarily someone, who in an institutions religious or political process is elected to some patriarchal high office. Now there are many cases where such persons that are elected can be very advanced spiritually, but not necessarily. This at times only proves that he/she has loyally served the organization and has kept out of trouble.
Certified does not always mean Qualified! Truly great leadership is a precious Gem.

living prophet may not someone who founds a new church or spiritual path. In English we could say that such a person is a small "p" prophet. Such a one may of may not be spiritually reborn - spiritually alive.

The living prophet is not someone who, by his/her own bold claims, charisma,
or opportunism, has attracted a lot of attention and is in a living bodily form.
It is not the adored icon of millions of blind followers who have succumbed
to the hooks, lines, and sinkers of a great orator/writer or people mover.

Such followers/devotees have already been programmed to be fed the
on the popular beliefs of a particular culture or system.
Many can always find a great
following by simply preaching to the converted through a lot of books or public appearances. Telling masses what they want to hear. This can be quite and ego booster. That is why it is better to master the ego via meditation before attempting to "remove the speck from your brothers eye."jc

Beware; There are religious groups that are claiming that their church has the worlds only living prophets who speak not only for their church, but by some vain claim they say they have the authority to give some God's edicts to all mankind. This is a totally false claim!

They are not living prophets by any means - they just like to give themselves vainglorious titles. Beware of those who make claims that are totally unsubstantiated. I assure you that those claims have already been proven to be false!

The true Living Prophet is a Great One who has reached Union with
God/ the Reality of our existence. And is thus qualified to show others
the way out of these cycles of reincarnation, out of the relative every day
world of relativity. Such persons are so very rare!

A real Living Prophet fulfills the scripture: John: 14:12
"Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the WORKS that I do he will do also; and GREATER WORKS than these he will do, because I go to My Father. "And, "John 8:51 I tell you the truth, if anyone keeps my word, he will never see death."
Some scholars like to rationalized that He didn't really mean that literally. I would say to read this literally finds a great deal of support in the rest of scripture. Such as in ;" The disciple is not above his master: but every one that is perfect shall be as his master... Luke 6:40
This is part of the description of a genuine Living Prophet.

Don't rely on the clerical promises of some salvation on the other side, or the theological promise of a maybe resurrection in a realm unknown to us. Work now to resurrect yourself
from a matter bound slave into an unlimited and free soul. Seek that Reality which is God!
The true Living Prophet is one who through divine grace and great Personal effort effort over many lifetimes in this world,  has been able to overcome his/her endemic human blind
programming and mastered his consciousness and the natural world. This is one who has reached the pure state of Self-Realization. Such a person lives a pure life of disciplined inner bliss, and has a great deal of healing power and wisdom to share. Working in harmony with the divine plan for this world, such one appears free of the misdirections of ego, and is content with whatever he has. Such a one is a being of light.

The true Living Prophet stands out as a man/woman of truth
purity, and balanced wisdom, and does not display ambitions
of the ego and arrogance attempting to become a celebrity.
He - the Living Prophet - is a remarkable example of humanity's
future evolutionary prospects. He is secure in His unity with His
divine nature, and in all dealings in this world he is never desperate.
Because of His/Her mastery of the elements of this world, including
physical, psychological, and spiritual areas of life, the Living Master
can work equally well whether his/her body as we have come to
know it is dead or alive! Check your history.

Many masters such as Jesus the Christ, Paramahansa Yogananda,
Krishna etc. are still clearly working with their devotees in this world.

The rest of us, until we experience the evolutionary state of
Samadhi/Nirvana/Salvation, are as it is written - are spiritually dead.
This is then also the stature of those whose ego seeks followers,
wealth, or celebrity status, without first achieving divine Self-Realization.

If the Guru is in a body it is nice for a while! Will you see Him much?

He/she may be a very busy person. Most devotees rarely
have the opportunity to spend much time with their Gurus.
What if He dies tomorrow? Nothing is guaranteed in all this.
The wisdom writings left behind by a Great Soul are more than
just words on paper, they are spiritually charged spiritualized
teachings of the divine law and inspiration.

Here one may want to ask - what about Guru Shishya/ Paramapara?
This long held belief of many past teachers is not invalid, but
an expanded understanding of the how and why helps us.
The Living Prophet, according to Scriptures and history does
not absolutely require a physical successor to carry out His
great works and blessings to the wise devotees. He can work directly
with us through attunement to his teachings and living omnipresence.

This is certain ways, when one is advanced enough, take
care of the need of lineage succession. And thus, the serious devotees
of Jesus and Krishna and Yogananda, Lahiri Mahasaya, continue to receive the
personal help, protection and assurance in their lives from these Living Prophets.

What is Faith?
Faith is not blind belief, Blind belief is not Faith. Blind belief is simply blind belief!
Faith is; the power of creativity, intelligence, and love that changes things in real ways,
from personal Self-Realization/self-transformation to ridding ourselves of failure
and disease, of ignorance and lack, of fear and doubt.
If there are no results, you are practicing blind belief, not faith. If your ideas of belief contradict all evidences of reason and sound research, then you may be involved in Blind belief. But as the scripture wisely says; "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." Hebrews 11:1 KJV
I will add to this again, that blind belief is the absence of evidence and results by incorrect ideas. Blind belief is an idea that is emotionally, not rationally held on to. Faith is an idea that stands the proper tests of reason and research. This is where intellectuals often get confused, Faith is the real thing, Belief can be true or false.
Even Reason, without proper data, in a mind that has been programmed by society to see only the most limited sensory aspects of a matter, is still caught up in blind belief. This is called "building a house on sand" - it won't stand up for long.

Guidance from the Worlds Great Scriptures;(the legacy of those who have reached the highest states of Human evolution.
The history of those who have found Reality/God and mastered life in this world and other worlds beyond the senses.)

In The Bhagavad Gita Lord Krishna Says; Ch 5, V 17-26
Edition re "The Yoga of the Bhagavad Gita" by Paramahansa Yogananda
(c) Self-Realization Fellowship Publishers LA USA 2007

“He who perceives Me everywhere and beholds everything in Me never
loses sight of me, nor do I ever lose sight of him.” 6:30
"That Yogi stays forever in Me, who, anchored in divine Unity whatever
His mode of existence, realizes me as pervading all beings.”  6:31
"Their thoughts immersed in That (Spirit), their souls one with Spirit,
their beings purified from poisonous delusion by the antidote of Wisdom.
- such men reach the state of non-return." [no longer reincarntating]
Self-Realized sages behold with an equal eye a learned and humble Brahmin,
a cow an elephant, a dog, an outcaste."
The relativities of existence (birth, death, pleasure and pain) have been overcome.
even here in this world, by those of fixed equal mindedness. Thereby are they
enthroned in spirit - verily, the taintless, the perfectly balanced spirit."
The knower of Spirit, abiding in the Supreme Being, with unswerving
discrimination, free from delusion, is thus neither jubilant at pleasant experiences,
nor downcast by unpleasant experiences. "20
Unattracted to the sensory world, the Yogi experiences the ever new joy inherent
in the Self. Engaged in divine union of the soul with Spirit, he attains bliss indestructible." 21
"With sins obliterated, doubts removed, senses subjugated, the rishis (sages), contributing to the welfare of mankind, attain emancipation in Spirit."25
"Renunciants who are desireless and wrathless, mind-controlled, and Self-Realized,
are completely free both in this world and in the beyond."26

The KJV Gospels where Jesus says;
"To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne." Rev. 3:21
"Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new name." Rev 3:12

John 14:Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.
 2. In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you.
I go to prepare a place for you.
 3. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I amthere ye may be also.  4. And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.”
 JOHN 16:7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.  8. And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:  9. Of sin, because they believe not on me;
10. Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more;
11. Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.
12. I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now.
13 .Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.
14. He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.”

Autobiography of a Yogi [SRF Orange editions only]
            Where Paramahansa Yogananda writes;
Paramahansa Yogananda's promise to all SRF/YSS
Devotees who are in tune with Him through this great work...........
"God has sent you to me, and I shall never fail you... "Even when I am gone my help will always be given to devotees all over the world, if they keep in tune. Never think for a moment that when I am physically absent from you all, I am not otherwise with you. I shall be just as deeply concerned for your spiritual welfare when I am no longer in the body as I am now. I shall always be watching over each one of you, and whenever a true devotee thinks of me in the silent depths of his soul, he will know that I am near."
Paramahansa Yogananda quoted in the SRF calendar, August, 1993.

 In a letter to Rajarsi Janakananda from Yogananda, September 19, 1935;
" To be known by God is everything. Like Buddha who gave up everything, live only for God, Self-Realization Fellowship, and Guru's work, and you will attain everlastingness in heaven."

Swami Adi Sankara  circa 788- 820AD

“There are those pure souls who have attained peace and greatness. The bring good to mankind, like the coming of spring. They themselves have crossed the dreadful ocean of the world. Without any selfish motive, they help others to cross.”
“A Teacher[Guru/prophet] is one who is deeply versed in the scriptures, pure, free from lust, a perfect knower of Brahman, calm like the flame when its fuel is consumed, an ocean of the love that knows now ulterior motive, a friend to all good people who humbly entrust themselves to him.”  Page 38-39 , Vedanta Press, Crest-Jewell of discrimination, 1947 translation by Swami Prabavananda and Christopher Isherwood. ".. The disciple is not above his master: but every one
that is perfect shall be as his master... Luke 6:40

Autobiography of a Yogi [SRF Orange paperback editions only]
            Where Paramahansa Yogananda writes;
While Yogananda was meditating for hours at the holy Dakshineswar Temple
near Kolkata this was one of His great experience in Yoga Samadhi;

"My instant petition to the divine mother was instantly acknowledged. First , a delightful cold wave descended over my back and under my feet, banishing all discomfort. Then to my amazement the temple became greatly magnified. Its large doors slowly opened, revealing the stone figure of the Goddess Kali. Gradually the statue changed into a living form , smilingly nodding in greeting, thrilling  me with joy indescribable  As if by a mystic syringe, the breath was withdrawn from my lungs; my body became still though not inert.
An ecstatic enlargement of consciousness followed. I could see clearly several miles over the Ganges River to my left. and beyond the temple to the Dakshineswar precincts. The walls of all buildings glimmered transparently; through them I observed people walking to and fro over the distant acres.

"though I was breathless and my body remained in a strangely quiet state, I was able to move
my hands and feet freely. For several minutes I experimented in opening and closing my eyes,
In either state I saw the distinctly the whole Dakshineswar panorama..............................."
[from page 183, Autobiography of a Yogi, (c) Self-Realization Fellowship Publishers LA USA.]
It was during this experience that Yogananda's prayer was answered that changed his sisters
marriage, and resulted in a major transformation in the life of his brother in law."
This is the power of a living master to effect change and experience life beyond the limits
of human sensory limits. This ability continues after the death of the body - thousands of witnesses
have testified that after Paramahansa Yogananda's body death they have received a great deal of amazing help from Him personally and indirectly.

The above Living Prophets have left a remarkable legacy of dozens of great saints in their downline Lineages and successors, strongly proving the efficacy and accuracy of the teaching and history as we read about them in such books, as the “Autobiography of a Yogi.” [Published with the orange cover and most accurately by Paramahansa Yogananda’s Self-Realization Fellowship Publishers LA USA. This and most other SRF Publications represent with utmost accuracy Paramahansa Yogananda’s words and final visions.
I testify to this from my own studies and practices of these teachings.

To read about the history and works of these Avatars lives, I recommend starting with
the orange covered paper back edition of  Paramahansa Yogananda's
"Autobiography of a Yogi." [shown below]
Note; all other non - SRF 1946 editions are incomplete and out of date, including Kindle.

Read this edition for the real Yogananda!
This is the book that really tells the world about Living Prophets.

If you can't make it through the whole book. or if you have read it
only once, you are not ready for the depth and value of the message.
This is ok, as the world is full of the various ideas
to meet the different needs of all seekers.
If this Holy path is for you - you will know it.
But what is in this classic is worth the effort of careful study!
Yet! Amazing and inspiring as the Autobiography is, this is just the
beginning of your accelerated journey of Self-transformation to a better life.

This site is about the example and life lessons one can learn from the Revelations, life, and Inspired teachings of a modern day Saint/Yogi/manifestation and world class Teacher/Guru.
The founding of the Self-Realization Fellowship/Yogada Sat Sangha and the legacy left by Yogananda are a global spiritual dispensation needed by many in this 21st century and beyond.
Yogananda brings great emphasis on creating more harmony among the worlds religions and nations, bringing peace instead of war, and how to attain communion with Reality/God.
This site will also deal with the great question of the need for a Guru of Self-Realization on the path of self-transformation.//////
SRF/YSS is not New Age, although it is similar to New Thought.
It is not a cult, it is a community working towards spiritual freedom,

Tranformational growth and Self-Realization.
It is not a branch or offshoot of any other major faith, it is the science of Kriya Yoga.
A non-sectarian society sharing  the essence of all great paths.
Self-Realization Fellowship does not seek to take anyone away from their faith,
or abrogate the teachings of previous dispensations.
But is has come at this time to restore the original teachings of Christ, Krishna, and
show the essential truths underlying all great faiths as a common thread for world harmony.

You can be right where you are and transform your understanding
and consciousness from external popular ideas to inner true belief.

I hope to share ideas with all open minded persons free of dark prejudices, attachments,
resentments, and competitive attitudes, the many blessing to be obtained from one of
the modern world’s greatest Self-transformational spiritual Masters/ life coaches.
I write here as a witness from the progress I have made in my
own life by listening to and working with a true Guru/Master.
From when Yogananda first came into my life greater freedom and awareness
and many other blessings continually flow into it. Obedience to  a true Living
Guru, freeing one from sense slavery and increasing mastery of ones life
is the road to real freedom. Stay the way you are and you will never leave slavery!
The glowing history of so many divinely God Realized persons
who are in this lineage,  and with the sincere practice of these
teachings are an unbroken testimony that is undeniable to honest seekers.
The evidence is completely in the results, are you humble enough to take many
years to learn about such results through study and practice?
Anything worthwhile is worth the effort! meditation + devotion is the way!
If not - this may not be for you!

This is a profound, demanding, and advanced spiritual, mystical path, based upon the science of Kriya Yoga.  It is a balanced path of love, austerity and service with great rewards. It is not for those of shallow intellectual disposition, or for the undisciplined loafers, who egotistically never will change themselves. It is not appealing to person who seek to be missionaries or teachers long before they are ready. You can't save the world until you save yourself.  If you imagine in your small intellect you know more than the great ones/these living prophets, this path is clearly not for you..
It is not for those who are restless and weak of will, or cynical.

Persons self-enamored with their own overblown intellects are correct in thinking
a real God cannot be known by their prime intellectual method alone,
truth will be most often evasive. Those who have penetrated to the heart of
Reality/Brahman have done so by adding the powers of devotion and intuition
to their great intellects. It is not intellect alone that will break the barriers
of the world’s illusions, of your limited programming - but intellect plus intuition plus yoga sciences!
This is now a real intelligence which leads to true faith true realization of the Self.

Reason alone, working through an undisciplined mind that is still locked into the
cultural limitations of one’s childhood programming is equally as blind as blind faith.
Half of our intelligence works with reason, good but still just the intellect rehashing its old patterns.
Intellect is also the victim of limitations of wrong data and/or incompetent assessments. The missing ingredient is highly developed intuition. This is how the Great Ones found their way to Reality/Salvation and knew God before death. We all have the opportunity of accelerating our evolution and permanently be free of forced reincarnation.
Intuition is most effectively developed through Yoga meditation and spiritual devotion.
When these two faculties are developed and balanced then one is blessed with a very clear and insightful clear intelligence. Intuition and reason together can show one the way with the help of one who is already there. The Guru is in a class beyond expert and is indispensable to the totally serious seeker.
Whereas a teacher or cleric is suitable for the average devotee.
A true savior -Guru- Spiritual master...One who has attained Yoga
[union with the One Reality] and knows God no longer depends upon a human body
to work with His/Her devotees. So he/she does not need a succession of gurus for parampara to be validated.

In the 19th & 20th century, India, Santana Dharma, [yoga] produced a
number of great souls who are the equal of any savior to ever be
known in Human history. Yogananda and many other credible writers have
now brought this to the world's attention. Claims to the contrary are made by
fearful protective bound believers who cannot bear the competition. Who may
yet be steeped in the towers of intolerant exclusivism.
Why do we need to follow anyone at all? Without religion many can lead a life of
goodness. That does cover the level of leading a moral live. However in the
field of true religion morality is only the foundation - nothing more.
So until one is self-realized, we are as blind people wandering through
unproductive years full of the false promises of our ancestors.
In this relative world we are still only barely existing in another level of
dreaming. Relativity is not reality - it is relativity!
The Great Ones are Masters who have found the way to reality can
the way out of all of this false programming. They know the way.
Do you still believe the world is real, or that it can meet all your needs?

All endeavors are similar, it you want the best guidance and success
you will work with an expert, one who has already made it there and
back and knows the way...

Persons with self-exaggerated presumptions of their own status who have imagined that by a few short readings and brief periods of practice they think they have an clear understanding of Yogananda and the Self-Realization teachings and history are sadly mistaken. You don't!
Or persons who are under the influence of copy cat teachers and are not what they seem.
We see this all the time from detractors of Yogananda's work
who have somehow assumed, either with misunderstanding or
by other private agendas, that they know only the presumed faults of a
spiritual master whose stature they have not yet even begun to grasp.
Many of these detractors are still suffering from a deep
stress of cognitive dissonance.  Follow them NOT!

¿Qué es .... Autorrealización?
Paramahansa Yogananda nos dice que;
"Self-Realization es el conocimiento-en cuerpo, mente y alma, que somos uno con la omnipresencia de Dios, para que nosotros no tenemos que rezar para que venga a nosotros, que no somos más que cerca de él en todo momento, pero que la omnipresencia de Dios es nuestra omnipresencia, que somos sólo una parte tan importante de él ahora que nos volverá a ser .............. Todo lo que tenemos que hacer es mejorar nuestro conocimiento ".

      What is ....Self-Realization?
Paramahansa Yogananda tells us that;
"Self-Realization is the knowing-in body, mind and soul- that we are one with the omnipresence of God; that we do not have to pray that it come to us, that we are not merely near it at all times, but that God's omnipresence is our omnipresence ; that we are just as much a part of Him now as we ever will be. .............  All we have to do is improve our knowing."

What do you really want? Community comfort or the sure Path of finding Reality?
SERIOUS SEEKER OF TRUTH PYislove   25 October 2012

I can appreciate that some of you have a longing of many questions to be answered. It is a sign that you sincerely would like answers to your dilemma/confusion.
My heart goes out to you - I have been there!

Before I was ever introduced to Paramahansa Yogananda and Self-Realization Fellowship I was studying the Bible, and only knew a little about Yoga, and nothing about biblical languages, and little of ancient history.
Yet, even then I saw that Reincarnation and Yoga are all through the bible - especially in the four Gospels.
But it was not until after I began to understand the intimacy and significance of the master/disciple relationship that I became aware that Jesus never implied that He was the only way to salvation for all nations and culture. A mind expanding pluralism that is now well supported by the availability of much the world’s great historical data and sacred writings the WWW has brought to our fingertips.

Moreover,  just like our friend Ralph Waldo Emerson, once I found the Bhagavad Gita
I knew I was on the right track. It was a beginning on the path to true salvation. Once Emerson read that remarkable holy book and He used it as his personal bible for the rest of his life. [read what he has said about it - it's amazing].
Buddha also was a Yogi through and through. As was Jesus and others too.
If you can't see these things in the bible, it is because of your cultural programming.
They also had teachers and Gurus. Make no mistake; these are two very different types of mentors.

It can be somewhat disillusioning when one runs into a mystical advanced path like Kriya Yoga before one is ready and is still drifting in the wind looking for everything else.
Those "who have grasped the import" and value of SRF yoga by and large [like 98%] have gained immeasurable freedom and self-transformation in their lives. This is one of the main reasons why Yoga is literally sweeping the world- and this is just the beginning.
It is all because of the results, what you may read in the Autobiography of a Yogi is only the
beginning of this wonderful life enhancing adventure. And if you've only read that book once you may miss most of its valuable message.

Reincarnation? Just who in the world knows how all this got started?
Just like people now living on Aboriginal lands of the western world.
The whole process seems to have come about by the greatest of political evils and genocide.
The problem is we now live here and it is too crowded to all head back to Europe
so we must work at life where we are and make something good from now on.

Likewise here we are born into this world, and the scientific and spiritual evidence in mounting like crazy that reincarnation is the most plausible process re souls living in these bodies over and over.

So, in this modern age we are so fortunate that we now have more ways of testing
this truth and now have various great paths and methods of bringing the process to an end.  The decision is fully and clearly ours.

As we can see from Yogananda's definition of Self-Realization -
"Self-Realization is the knowing-in body, mind and soul- that we are one with the omnipresence of God; that we do not have to pray that it come to us, that we are not merely near it at all times, but that God's omnipresence is our omnipresence ; that we are just as much a part of Him now as we ever will be. ...... All we have to do is improve our knowing." is what it's all about. Self-responsibility and initiative. It is not about all that other stuff of paying a priesthood or club to guarantee us a place in some heavenly realm. Promises, those who have no power to guarantee them.

Jesus was never about intolerant exclusivism. "Only one way " Reincarnation was not from any form of paganism, It was at that time a beloved wisdom of even the Hebrews and Greeks, even though some pagans did come to believe in it. And of course today nearly half of Christians believe in it - and still growing. So much for Justinian's terrible edict passed by a kangaroo court to make it an anathema! That change was not dictated by any spiritual wisdom, not by some theological rational, it was purely for political control.
The result being that after 1500 years of blind religious programming when most church goers read the Gospels they can only see the resurrection day themes. This is the power of programming, and until you free yourself from it, you will continue to only "see through a glass darkly." as Paul said.

Few in history have made this all so clear as Yogananda. Read again and you will see that!
SRF is not perfect - and as they themselves teach so clearly -" that nothing in this world is perfect so don't expect it." But they are a great and caring organization. The Master set it up in a manner that has avoided many of the common pitfalls that plagued previous divine dispensations. Yogananda has brought to the world a great deal of spiritual understanding and the methods of how to become a Christ, how to enrich your life, and the most advanced self-transformational approaches in this modern era.
Some of India's greatest saints acclaimed Yogananda as a true Paramahansa. Yoganandas Spiritual Legacy

Do not become a victim of popular ideas!
You are not a sheep, you are a child of Reality! Most of what is popular is not good for us.
If you consume popular food, popular music, popular politics, popular reading, popular pastimes [tv /vid games], popular fears, popular religious concepts[one way],-
you must be living in hell !

False prophecies are manipulated  by Leaders/prophets who are not in touch with Reality/God. They have their own agendas!
Who may even be "wolves in sheep's clothing!"

There are always some religious movements that will twist old warn out prophecies to support a claim of being the new messiah or the latest "word of some God". And of course the official 2nd coming
  - don't buy into all this popular stuff. It is for the "many."
It could be presented so shrewdly that it will fool even persons who are seemingly well educated. Great prophets do return to the sincere & advanced devotees as a personal vision or manifestation.

True Masters are "living Gurus" and are ever with us.
Prophets never return as in a 2nd public debut. Not one!
History for the last 5 thousand years is clear on this.

To be victimized by 2nd coming opportunistic claims is a great spiritual deception and a misreading of scriptures and History.

Have you noticed how every once and a while, some leader of a major church states or prophesy's erroneously that Jesus the Christ is returning publicly for a second public debut, and the time, and how it never happens? Why do they keep doing this? They just keep changing theories and finding new victims.
They have had egg on their face so often that they apologetically need to spin ever new theories to keep you interested in something that does not even exist! And will never happen.

Let us explore some of the reasons why, and what all of this talk about Jesus Second Coming really means. What is it that church leaders and others do not understand about Christ?

Maybe some do understand that He is not returning as they say, but it is still a great gimmick to attract followers!

He said He will return, no argument there. What I dispute here
is the kind of return history has shown will or does happen.

The First Spiritual leader Who Clearly Understands this issue;
Paramahansa Yogananda said
 "In titling this work,

"The Second Coming of Christ; Resurrecting the Christ within You."
"I am not referring to a literal return of Jesus to earth.
He came two thousand years ago and, after imparting a universal path to God's kingdom, was crucified and resurrected; his reappearance to the masses now is not necessary for the fulfillment of his teachings. What is necessary is for the cosmic wisdom and divine perception of Jesus to speak again through each one's own experience and understanding of the infinite Christ Consciousness that was incarnate in Jesus. That will be his true Second Coming."

Recent failed prophecies of the end times .....
Harold Camping & the Family Radio Network Ca USA

The evangelical radio network he founded 50 years ago spent more than $100 million in the last seven years publicizing the Rapture on May 21,2011, when the faithful would ascend to Heaven & everyone else spent five months in earthly chaos, the Oakland Trib  reported.

“We were mistaken in looking at it in a physical way when actually we should be looking at it in a spiritual way,” Camping said after nothing happened on May 21 2011.
“I wasted all my money because of you. I was putting all my money and my hopes on you,” -an angry caller to the station’s Open Forum told Camping.

-->1. Mormon Joseph Smith prophecy of Feb. 14, 1835, that Jesus' second would becoming  in about fifty-six years, or in 1891. It never happened, and never will!
The main evidence often presented consists of a reference to the sermon preached by Joseph Smith in 1835, as recorded in the 7 volume History of the Church by B. H. Roberts, and statements by three other prominent LDS church members.
Also, Mormons will sometimes present as evidence statements in blessings given to individuals that the one being blessed would claim to see the Lord, or statements that some of those present at a meeting, or of the rising present generation, would not taste death until after Christ comes. It did not happen!

NOTE; Some dispute whether this was a prophecy or a statement of belief. It does not matter too much as we will see going into the
second coming subject, the real problem is is that he clearly did not understand the basics/meanings of this important matter.
He merely used it as a carrot to gain  followers and power in a field where he had no authority and little understanding to promise anyone any kind of salvation.
Unfortunately he also made his flawed understanding of Jesus Second coming one of  the main foundations of the Mormon/LDS church. He even built a temple to receive Jesus on His return to what they imagined themselves to be, "  Gods only true church, or the restored church of Christ."

Second Coming failed predictions over 2k years.
Following facts gleaned from Religioustolerance dot org site.   If  anyone does not accept my usage of reference to Fair Use  of the material below please write me and I will adjust same at your request.

About 30CE: Interpreting the NT literally, appears to record various predictions by Jesus the Christ that God's Kingdom would arrive within a very near time, or was in the act of arriving. EG., Jesus is recorded as having said inMatthew 16:28: "...there shall be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom." In Matthew 24:34,Yeshua is recorded as saying: "...This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled."
About 60 CE:  Noting the Epistles of Paul of Tarsus , his writings seem to imply that Jesus would return and usher in a great Rapture during the lifetime of those persons who were living during the middle of the 1st century.
About 90 CE; Saint Clement 1st predicted that the worlds was about to end soon.
2nd Century CE; Prophets / Prophetesses of the Montanist movement predicted that Jesus would return  during their lifetimes and establish the New Jerusalem in the city of Pepuza in Asia Minor.
365 CE; Also Hilary of Poitiers, said the end would happen in that year. It never happens!
375 to 400 CE; Hilary student -Saint Martin of Tours,  also sure the end would happen  before 400 CE.
500 CE; A year of panic.  Hippolytus and an another Christian academic Sextus Julius Africanus also predicted Armageddon in approximately this same year.
1000-CE; Christians in Europe also predicted the end of the world on same date. When the date approached, Christian armies wage war against some Pagan countries in Northern Europe. The purpose was to convert many of them to Christianity by force if necessary , before Christ's return in the year 1000. During this period, various Christians gave  their total wealth to their Church during this fear of the worlds end. Because the level of literacy was  low  many citizens were unaware What year it was and thus were unafraid. The Violence settled down soon, similar as around  2000.
1033 CE  The 1000th anniversary of the death of Jesus. His second coming was anticipated by the many who only assumed they new the exact year of His death.
1147: Gerard of Poehlde decided that the millennium had actually started in 306 CE during Constantine's reign. Thus, the world end was expected in 1306 CE.
1205: Joachim of Fiore predicted in 1190 that the Antichrist was already in the world, and that King Richard of England would defeat him. The Millennium would then begin, sometime before 1205.
1284: Pope Innocent III calculated the date by adding 666 years founding of Islam
1496: This was about 1500 years after Jesus birth . Mystics in the 15th century predicted that the millennium  this very same year.
1524: Various astrologers predicted the actual end of the world due to a world wide flood. They probably haven't read the Genesis story of the rainbow.
1533: Melchior Hoffman predicted that Jesus' return would happen a millennium and a half after the nominal date of his execution, in 1533.
1669: Old Believers in Russia believed that the end of the world would occur in 1699. 20 thousand persons burned themselves to death between 1669 and 1690 to protect themselves from the Antichrist.
1689: Benjamin Keach, a 17th century Baptist, also predicted the end of the world for this year. this usually accompanies the idea of Jesus return.
1736: British theologian /mathematician William Whitson predicted a great flood similar to Noah's flood for Oct 13th  of 1736.
1792: the Shakers as well held that this was the year of doomsday.
1794: Charles Wesley, a founders of Methodism,  said Doomsday would occur in 1794.

1843-Mar-21st: William Miller, who founded of the Millerite movement, predicted that Jesus would return on this exact date. A very large number of Christians naively accepted this failed prophecy as a revelation.
1844 - The Bab and Bahaullah in Iran broke away from Islam to announce that he was none
other than some God's latest divine messenger and the second coming of Christ. They had a violent beginning in dealing with Moslems and their own succession conflicts. This was all time to correlate with Christian clergy biblical calculations of that era.
1844-Oct-22st: When Jesus didn't return, Miller prognosticated this new date. An event which is now called "The Great Disappointment," so many Christians sold their property and possessions, quit their jobs and prepared themselves for this second coming. Nothing happened; the day came and went without incident.

1850: Ellen White, founder of the Seventh day Adventist movement, also made many predictions about the end of the world. Alas all of them failed. On June of 1850 she prophesied that only a few months would bring the end. She wrote: "My accompanying angel said, 'Time is almost finished. Get ready, get ready, get ready.' time is almost finished...and what we have been years learning, they will have to learn in a few months."
1856 (post): At Ellen White's last prophecy, she claimed that she was shown in a vision the fate of believers who attended the 1856 SDA conference. She wrote "I was shown the company present at the Conference. Said the angel: 'Some food for worms, some subjects of the seven last plagues, some will be alive and remain upon the earth to be translated at the coming of Jesus.11 That is, some of the attendees would die of  diseases; some would die of plagues at those last days, yet others would still be alive when Jesus came. "By the early 1900's all those who attended the conference had passed away, leaving the Church with the dilemma of trying to figure out how to explain away such a prominent prophetic failure."  and so it goes!
1891 or before: On about Feb 14-184-?, Joseph Smith, the founder of the Mormon church, attended a meeting of church leaders. (see notes above) He said that the meeting had been called because God had commanded it. He announced that Jesus would return within 56 years - i.e. before Feb 15,1891. (History of the Church2:182)
1914 was one of the more popular estimates of the start of the war of Armageddonby the JW's (Watchtower Bible and Tract Society). They based their prophecy of 1914 from prophecy in the book of Daniel, 4th Chapter . The writings referred to "seven times". The WBTS interpreted each "time" as equal to 360 days, giving a total of 2520 days. This was further interpreted as representing 2520 years, they measured from the starting date of 607 BCE. Thus 1914 as the target date. When 1914 passed, they changed their predictions; So 1914 became the year that Jesus invisibly began his rule. Ha ha!

1914, 1915, 1918, 1920, 1925, 1941, 1975 and 1994, etc. were other dates that theWAtchtower Society (WTS) or its members predicted.
Since late in the 19th century, they had taught that the "battle of the Great Day of God Almighty" (called by Armageddon) would happen in 1914CE. Did it happen- NO!.
The next major estimate was 1925. Watchtower magazine announces: "The year 1925 is a date definitely and clearly marked in the Scriptures, even more clearly than that of 1914; but it would be presumptuous on the part of any faithful follower of the Lord to assume just what the Lord is going to do during that year."

The Watchtower Society selected 1975 as their next main date of prophecy.

What does all of this sad history tell us?

The clearest conclusion to me is that none of the above persons had a sufficient wisdom or understanding of these spiritual matters to really make any predictions about Jesus, nor did they have the faintest understanding of the meaning of His " return" !

However, we have many, many evidences/occurrences of the personal individually experienced return of Jesus by many great souls throughout history which does conform with what Jesus said about his return in the New Testament gospels. This is the way it happens and is in line with the teachings of the Gospels. This personal experiencing of Jesus return is all he ever meant to be.
Here are some quotes from John 14:21-23 " He that has my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loves me: and he that loves me shall be loved of my father, and I will love him and will manifest myself unto him. 22; Judas said unto Him, not Iscariot, Lord, how is it that you will manifest yourself unto us and not unto the world?  23 ;If a man love me he will keep my words; and my father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him"

Regarding the popular concept of a public return;
Jesus made other comments as, "  if they say I am in the desert- go not after them, if they say here he is, do not believe them etc - for many will come in my name saying - I am He."     pp
Mark 13:6, 22,  Matt 24: 25 etc

This process of  a " cut -off"  or "  prophetic closure"   is an important and standard practice exercised by many great prophets throughout history for various reasons.
The main reason being that there are so many fake religious leaders/teachers and false prophets looking for power over the public with unbelievable deceptions just to inflate their egos and their bank accounts.
Jesus [and other great prophets] comments on "   closure"   although sounding exclusivistic, are not really so. As we have the evidence in world history of many true sons of God  who are truly valid paths to Salvation and God realization from all religions.
When you read in the gospel of John "   I am the way, the truth and the life"   you will not know what this means till you read several verses farther down!
Read verse #10 , only then will you have the proper context. Although the way the Master - Disciple relationship functions, it is true that once one makes that spiritual recognition/connection to ones Master, for those persons only is it true that there is only one way[just for them]!!!
Become your own missionary - Change yourself first !!!

For Billions of others, your personal path and your personal savior may be totally unnecessary for persons of other faiths. Other Persons have their own paths and divine saviors that will take them to Salvation/God-realization. Teachers of Self -Realization who may be far better in ways fully unknown to you and your local group. People who do not need your savior.

Unless you fully comprehend the system and functioning of that relationship[the Guru principle], you should be applying all of your energies not in converting others to your ignorance, but converting yourself to the path you have adopted. It will take you years to remove the "beam" of false programming from your own eyes. This will keep you busy for most of your life. You can't remove the speck from you brothers eye while you yourself are still blinded by a large chunk of wood in your own eye.

Joining a church [any church] does not save you, changing yourself and becoming like a spiritual master does save you!
Adopting a new path is just the beginning of your work, which should consist mainly of reprogramming your religious and cultural ignorance.....Unless those teachers you follow are god-realized, you are not being given true doctrines. Because they were also taught by the blind.....pp
"unless your wisdom is beyond that of your educated leaders
you will not find salvation in those blind beliefs."
"whatever is popular among men, is abomination in the sight of God " JC kjv  Are you a follower of popular concepts?

Paramahansa Yogananda, the founder of Self-Realization Fellowship , is a living prophet/savior who is clearly in the class of " God-Realized." He was one of very few persons in history to get this message of the second coming correct. While all those others who foolishly pretended they knew when the end times were coming with the return of  Jesus only ended up exposing their false and misguided quest for power.
This and many other facts shows us that Yogananda was truly one who has restored the true teachings of Jesus Christ.

Read "The Second Coming of Christ;Resurrecting the Christ Within You"  and discover for yourself the higher wisdom brought to the world by Jesus and Krishna.
If you will bear with me with an open mind, I will through the masters help and share with you this great alternative to popular dogmas about the real "  Christ Consciousness ".
SRF/YSS lineage has already produced a remarkable number of divinely realized souls.........................

What is Christ Consciousness?
It is not Psychic, it is not New Age, it is not Occult of Cultish.
This CC is the same "Kristos" spoken of by  Greeks, the "Kutustha "  spoken of by the Hindus in their Sanatana Dharma. Jesus, Buddha, Krishna, Ram, Lahiri Mahasaya, Paramahansa Yogananda and many others were all Sons of God who are pure and full expressions of the universal principle of Cosmic[Christ] consciousness. They are known as Avatars and are greater than the saints. They all tell us about Karma and Reincarnation and the way to Self-Realization even before death.

All religious history clearly attests to this fact.
But unfortunately, if you are still among those who believe that the earth is only six thousand years old, or that the earth is flat, or that there is only one true church or faith, or that the scriptures as a means of human communication can only be read literally, it will be some time yet before you will be able to think outside of that box. In this world there are many roads that lead to Benares.
Because you are still afraid to go deeper than the surface you may still fear anything that you don't understand. If you can get past your fears, especially the fear of bring different then you will surely know truth and spiritual growth. Nothing keeps us far away from the truth as much as the desire to be accepted our peers - think about it!
Pass beyond that barrier "walk to the beat of your own drum "and  you will be on your way to really being born again!

This year [2010] was the 61th anniversary of the first Self-Realization Fellowship World Convocation, which was held by Paramahansaji in 1950 at the SRF Mother Center. Foreseeing the ever-increasing number of truth-seekers who would participate in this powerful spiritual event as the years passed, he predicted to those who were present at the first one:
"  They shall come from all parts of the world, thousands
and thousands of them, just as you have, for Self-Realization
is bringing the original Christianity of Christ and the
original Yoga of India's Krishna so that all people
of all religions can follow one highway to the Infinite."

How do Church apologists deal with these myriad
false predictions about second comings?
Generally, they either create varied excuses why
things are different now,  or they devise entirely
new scenarios to support the same erroneous idea
that Jesus is going to return to save/reign the
world and say " their church" is the truest or all.
All to make a pretext of knowing what they do
not really know - for this is how they hold on to power
over your mind. unless and until you search for truth
independently and courageously there is little progress.
The major source and support for this endless
nonsense is the promotion of the idea that there is
only "one way" to salvation, and the idea that
belonging to the "right " church will save you.
Your first step to Self-Realization begins when
you escape from the "one way trap."

You see- great prophets never do return as we
knew them for second public debuts. If they did,

they would never use the exact same words.

Persons who purport themselves to be Christians
need a new and fresh perspective on what Jesus is
talking about, who He really is, as well as a little
better research on what the church has been
doing to them for the last two millennia.
Jesus makes a statement about the "few" who
find life and the "many" who go down the road
to destruction. Which are you?
There is a great difference between teachings
inspired by the holy Spirit and those dictums inspired
by well educated political interests.
The means to guarantee the most power over
the minds of others bound up in robotic communities.

It is time to take the politics out of religion, time to think
outside of the box and deprogram ourselves from the
false teachings handed down for ages by the hierarchy
of the churches clergy . Yogananda has shown us the way.
The greatest need today is to
experience more
 spiritual and less political/academic training.
It is a truism that in most major religions it has been
the hierarchy of the priesthoods that constitute the
main psychological mechanism which keeps the "many"
blindly indoctrinated with a specific brands of ignorance.
The types of teachings they attempt to support by involved
theological and intellectual arguments are not really
reliable scriptural wisdom. It is true that anyones interpretation
of scripture will essentially be subjective and strongly
influenced by all that institutional programming
that serves to guide and enslave the masses in its tenacious
programming. A programming that goes right to the DNA
of your brain cells[ that is why with utmost and misdirected
confidence you are still seeing your Holy Book through
dark glasses or with the huge beam of wood in your eye.]
The seeker of truth will have to apply himself to
seriously sort this all out and escape into wisdom.
 He/She must understand
how to become free of the constricting Matrix of institutional
programming that keeps us all blinded to reality.
Meditation is the proven way, with the help of a God realized

master is the true guide/teacher/Guru who seeks only your own
good is the one who can show you the way. It has
always been thus for endless millennia. The True
Guru is far more than an expert, He/ She is one with
Reality[the only true God] and knows how you
can achieve Self-Realization and Independence from
the ties of relativity and ignorance.
It all requires
Self effort, grace, and devotion.
The true Guru does not seek worship and adoration,
such a one only desires to help you attain real salvation.

It is written in the NT, that these popular teachings followed
by the masses [the "many"] don't lead us to salvation and life.
They lead to failure and destruction in endless circles.
To really know the teachings of that narrow way that leads
to truth [the knowledge of the "few"] one must be in touch
with the Holy Spirit, the truth within. For all that older
programming represents only a shallow depth of the
real knowledge of life. It was politically established to
keep everyone dependent on authorities that were not
in touch with God - the Reality. This is the plan and nature
of all monopolies.

It is only when we find and learn from those Great Ones
who have successfully sought and found God - Reality,
that we can be sure of our way. For such successful
souls have no desire for power and celebrity status.
They have no desires to control others for their own
security and egos. They have clearly passed beyond
these base instincts that the rest of us still  labour under.
They have replaced academic authority with the
real essence of Spiritual authority herein described
by Paramahansa Yoganada as follows;

"The only reliable standard of scriptural
interpretation is the testimony of actual
perception - to go into that state of
 consciousness in which the prophets
perceived the truths they expounded
and thereby witness the meaning they intended."

This is the quality of wisdom and spiritual
awareness, and inspiration in which
" The Second Coming
of Christ;
 Resurrecting the Christ Within You"
                                    was revealed and published .

More false prophecies in the recent news of 2011
First in May there was the defunct claim of the world ending,
having failed they restated it will be in the fall of 2011.
There is also a major claim being made about 2012
because of the ending of Mayan calender.  All the
scams in Southern France about secret doors to other
dimensions and the end of the world.
Just ignore it all!
